IMG 7382‘Summer with Warka Apples’ is the title of a series of holiday workshops for the youth. Local institutions came together to make the summer break even more fascinating for schoolchildren.

The Casimir Pulaski Museum in Warka hosted the project’s participants on July 21 and 28, 2017, and had prepared a plethora of attractive activities. Both meetings were not only great fun, but also formed an opportunity to teach an unusual lesson about apples, which are the sweetest and juiciest business card of the region.

How did apples become Warka’s area of expertise? Over forty schoolchildren tried to answer this question during a workshop on July 21. The education process proved to be nice and sweet, just like apples. The children toured the ‘Warka – a place touched by history’ permanent exhibition, listened to educational fairy tales, played many logic and outdoor games, produced artwork, participated in competitions, and completed rounds of the ever so popular charades.

A week later, one hundred of Warka’s youngest watched ‘A wonderful day’ performance by the Warsaw-based children theater Scena Elffow. The play featured Talentka (the Talented One) and Ktoska (Mrs. Somebody) who made the entire host of puppets come to life and Eugeniusz Gienio Gegalski (Eugene the Gabble) who went through numerous adventures to experience summer holidays. Singing, Eugene would meet many funny characters. And he was not the only one, as the young audience often sang along! After the performance, the children proceeded to participate in sports classes with actors and museum staff as their coaches.

The Casimir Pulaski Museum in Warka would like to thank Mr. and Mrs. Angelica and Jaroslaw Nowociel, Prima 2000 Sp. z o.o., The Sports and Recreation Center in Warka, and volunteers for their help in hosting this event, organized by: Warka municipal authorities, Warka Apple (a project by the W.A.R.K.A.
