On Saturday afternoon, July 1, 2017, the Casimir Pulaski Museum in Warka officially celebrated its 50th anniversary.

The festivities started with a service in the Church of Our Lady of the Scapular in Warka, where the community prayed for the Museum directors and staff who are no longer with us and thanked for the 50 years of the Museum's existence. The subsequent part took place at the Museum and Education Center in Warka-Winiary.

The celebrations attracted many prominent guests, including state and local authorities, Museum partners, sponsors, and friends from Poland and the U.S. The guest list included Polish Senate Speaker Stanislaw Karczewski; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Dziedziczak; Polish President's Secretary of State Adam Kwiatkowski; Adam Pietrucha from the Polish Remembrance Policy Department at the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage; Councilor Leszek Przybytniak with the Mazovian Province Assembly, heading the Agriculture and Countryside Commission, who also represented Mazovian Province Marshal Adam Struzik; Grojec District Governor Marek Scislowski; Warka Mayor Dariusz Gizka; Monument Conservation Officer and Chairman of the Radom Branch of the Mazovian Province Conservation Office Marek Figiel; representatives of the Museum Council with Chairwoman Anna Rudek-Smiechowska, PhD; Fr. Dean Stanislaw Dobkowski; Fr. Grzegorz Krysztofik; Fr. Stanislaw Drag; Senior Corporate Relations Manager with Grupa Zywiec Magdalena Brzezinska; and many other chairpersons of various institutions and organizations cooperating with the Museum.

Master Andrzej Pitynski, who is a Polish American sculptor, came to Warka for the event to open his exhibition intertwined with the Museum golden jubilee. The United States of America were represented by Joan and Mel Gordon, representing the Savannah General Pulaski Society from Savannah, GA; Chairman of the Poles in America Foundation Jack Pinkowski from Florida; Peter Obst, representing the American Council for Polish Culture and Poles in America Foundation from Philadelphia, PA; and Regina Gorzkowska-Rossi, PhD from Philadelphia, PA.

After Director Iwona Stefaniak officially welcomed all guests, Secretary of State Adam Kwiatkowski read a congratulatory letter from the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda. Subsequently, Mrs. Stefaniak outlined the Museum's history and played a multimedia presentation honoring the 50-year-long history of the Museum.

The jubilee formed a great opportunity to thank the Museum managing bodies, partners, and sponsors for the long-standing cooperation. Mrs. Stefaniak presented the guests with commemorative souvenirs: Senate Speaker Stanislaw Karczewski; Vice President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Culture and National Heritage Prof. Piotr Glinski; Mazovian Province Marshal Adam Struzik; Grojec District Governor Marek Scislowski; Warka Mayor Dariusz Gizka; and two Museum sponsors: Grupa Zywiec SA managing the Warka brewery as well as Monika and Wlodzimierz Przybylski from Warka were all gifted commemorative statues. Museum partners, who have been cooperating and supporting the Museum for many years, received commemorative diplomas and words of thanks.

Mrs. Stefaniak presented Master Andrzej Pitynski with Casimir Pulaski medal, designed to thank the Master for cultivating the memory of Polish history in the world and congratulating him on the 50 years of his career as an artist.
Another special moment involved the Museum staff, who were distinguished with honorary badges. Mrs. Stefaniak had contacted the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage to have the Museum most deserving and oldest staff members decorated "With Merit to the Polish Culture." The honorable decorations were pinned onto Ewa Bajorynska, Witold Wisniewski, Slawomir Szewczyk, and Janusz Kreczmanski. All staff members received special congratulatory letters from Director Stefaniak on the 50th anniversary of the Museum.

The other part of the celebrations started with a vernissage of an exhibition by Andrzej Pitynski, living and working in the United States. The "Master Pitynski" exhibition attracted many friends and art lovers, enchanted with the creations by one of the most well-known contemporary Polish sculptors in the U.S. The choice of the exhibition's subject matter is no coincidence. The Museum's golden jubilee is intertwined with the 50th anniversary of Pitynski's career as an artist. His exhibition fits perfectly with a long-running series of exhibitions which the Casimir Pulaski Museum in Warka has been organizing for years to present artists of Polish decent living and working in the United States. Exhibition Curator Iwona Stefaniak thanked Master Pitynski and exhibition creators as well as all those who were kind enough to lend the Museum Pitynski's creations: Andrzej Pitynski Museum in Ulanow, Polish Army Museum in Warsaw, and a few individual collectors. Master Pitynski told the gathered about his creative process and thanked for the warm welcome to Warka. The celebrations concluded with a grand jubilee cake, with the entire ceremony being worthy of the golden jubilee.

Museum Director Iwona Stefaniak with staff would like to cordially thank all guests, honorary patrons, and sponsors for sharing this moment with us.
