strefa zdrowia relaksu2017On Sunday, April 30, 2017, the Museum officially opened the Health and Wellness Center in Warka-Winiary Park (Strefa zdrowia i relaksu). The project started in November 2016 and was made possible thanks to a grant from the Grupa Zywiec Social Fund (Fundusz Spoleczny Grupy Zywiec).

The weather proved good despite the morning cold. At 9 a.m., joggers and those wanting to spend their leisure time in an active way gathered around the Casimir Oak (Dab Kazimierz). This Sunday morning, they had the opportunity to take part in a workout by Artur Blasinski – an athlete and coach who used to represent Poland in long-distance running. Mr. Blasinski led a park run and showed the participants exercises designed to raise awareness of responsible jogging, the importance of a right warm-up, as well as jogging and stretching techniques. He also demonstrated how to work out using the mini-gym purchased as part of the project.

At 10.30, the gathered could see an energizing performance by Bokwa® group, trained by Jola Gawronska with the Sports and Recreation Center in Warka (Centrum Sportu i Rekreacji w Warce). Bokwa® is a new form of fitness where participants draw letters and numbers on the floor with their steps, enjoying a great cardio workout.

In the afternoon, at 3 p.m., the audience, including locals as well as tourists, met with yet another surprise – some unwinding on the clearing in the park and a concert entitled “Swing in the town of beer and history” (“Swing w grodzie piwa i historii”) by the Moderato Town Band (Miejska Orkiestra Moderato). The band cooperates with the Manor at Dluga Street in Warka (Dworek na Dlugiej w Warce).

The Health and Wellness Center greeted visitors with new sun loungers purchased as part of the project and designed to help them relax. On the opening night, Museum staff served tea and coffee on the clearing, and Zajazd na Winiarach (Winiary Inn Restaurant) opened a barbeque corner.

Various local institutions and companies from the fields of culture and tourism had their stands in the park, where they presented their 2017 offer. The list includes: Galeria Kawiarnia RYNEK (Town Square Gallery and Coffeehouse), Soki Gabler (Gabler Juice), Sports and Recreation Center in Warka, BOKWA® Jola Gawronska, Klub FORMA Warka (GOOD SHAPE Fitness Club Warka), and Manor at Dluga Street. The Casimir Pulaski Museum also had their stand, featuring promotional materials, including exhibition catalogs, maps, postcards, and guides, which were free of charge on Sunday. Additionally, visitors could talk to the Museum staff about the upcoming events in this truly important year, marking the 50th anniversary of the Museum’s existence. The Museum staff organized a guided tour to the Pilica River and back, with the guide telling stories and sharing trivia about the legends, flora, and fauna of the Warka-Winiary Park.

The Sunday at the Park closed with a concert by OSTATNIA PACZKA, featuring Leszek Owczarczyk (guitar, vocal), Bogdan Sabala (guitar, vocal), and Slawek Klimczuk (guitar, vocal), performed at the Museum and Education Center. The song list included Leszek Owczarczyk’s original pieces, arranged by Bogdan Sabala. The band is going to perform as part of the 10th Wojciech Belon Festival (X Festiwal Piosenki im. Wojtka Belona) in Busko Zdroj in the south of Poland. The festival is scheduled for May 12-14, 2014, and the performance at our Museum was first in a series designed for big audiences. The concert concluded with a thunderous applause.

This Sunday at the Park and Museum was a truly wonderful and memorable day.

We would like to thank coach Artur Blasinski, START PULASKI WARKA Sports Club (Klub Biegacza START PULASKI WARKA) and its leaders Marcin Banach and Tomek Grzegorek, Jola Gawronska and her BOKWA® group, Moderato Town Band with the Manor at Dluga Street, Mr. Artur Gebski, Ostatnia Paczka, and all those who contributed to holding the accompanying events during the Health and Wellness Center opening day.
