DP2016004On October 11, 2016, The Casimir Pulaski Museum held celebrations to commemorate the 237th anniversary of the death of the Hero of Two Nations, marking the Polish Casimir Pulaski Day 2016.

The official part took place at the Pulaski monument and attracted a large group of representatives from various institutions, organizations, and schools. The guest list included: Representative Robert Mordak; Weronika Piwarska from the Office of the Speaker of the Senate Stanislaw Karczewski; Jerzy Roguski and Jagoda Zakrzewska from the U.S. Embassy in Poland, Deputy Commander of the First Grojec SIGINT Center Lt. Col. Jacek Klatka; Lt. Cdr Parys Lenarcik, representing the Commander of ORP Gen. K. Pulaski from Gdynia; DP2016031Deputy Mazovian Province Governor Artur Standowicz; Mazovian Province Assembly Representative Leszek Przybytniak; Grojec District Secretary Sylwia Pietrasiewicz, representing Grojec Mayor Marek Scislowski; Grojec District Management Board Deputy Chair Teresa Bednarska; Grojec District Representatives Wieslaw Czerwinski, Krzysztof Kazmierczak, Andrzej Zareba; Warka Mayor Dariusz Gizka; Warka Town Board Deputy Chair Aldona Rzeznik; Town Councilors; Prof. Wojciech Zurowski from the Kazimierz Pulaski University of Technology and Humanities in Radom; Warka Brewery CEO Leszek Kaluza; and delegations from various other offices, institutions, organizations, as well as local schoolchildren and students.

DP2016066Numerous color guards, the Deblin Military Band, and the Honor Guard of the First Grojec SIGINT Center from Ogrodzienice near Grojec accompanied the guests. The ceremony included the national anthems of the United States of America and the Republic of Poland. The Casimir Pulaski Museum Director Iwona Stefaniak welcomed all guests and reminded the gathered about the person General Casimir Pulaski was. Warka Mayor Dariusz Gizka also took the stage and underlined the importance of The Casimir Pulaski Museum in disseminating local patriotism and developing tourism to Warka.

The military paid tribute to General Casimir Pulaski through Memorial Appeal and a 3-volley salute. Later, they gave a signal to commence the wreath-laying ceremony at the Pulaski monument. Despite the rainy weather, all the guests were happy to stay and listen to a collection of Polish and American songs played by the Military Band and watch the subsequent military parade.

The other part of the ceremony was held in the Museum and Education Center. This year, we remember the great Pole, statesman and pianist Ignacy Jan Paderewski on the 75th anniversary of his death.

DP2016071Visitors could see two exhibitions: "Ignacy Jan Paderewski (1860-1941) – a citizen of Poland and the world, statesman, and artist," by the Museum of Independence in Warsaw, and "Paderewski's Heart" by Ave Arte Foundation. The Museum also enabled guests to see original memorabilia connected with Paderewski from its rich collection. Screening of a film "Paderewski – a man of action, success, and fame," directed by Wieslaw Dabrowski, concluded the ceremony.
